DES / 3DES Cipher

Encrypt or decrypt with DES and 3DES (EDE) in ECB or CBC mode with PKCS#7 padding; keys and results are shown in hex.

DES has only 56 effective key bits and modern hardware can brute-force it in hours — **do not use it for anything new**. It stays here because legacy hardware, old protocols, teaching and debugging still rely on it. Use AES or SM4 for new work.

3DES is EDE: encrypt, decrypt, encrypt with three keys in turn. With a 16-byte key the third key equals the first, giving roughly 112-bit security.
